Embracing Opportunities: Outdoor Events

Embracing Opportunities is a series of panels put together by the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance that focuses on opportunities for music professionals to grow and thrive in the ever-changing world of entertainment.  Given the season, this specific workshop will focus on the opportunities to transition from online to outdoor events.  The panel will include representatives from two of the major northeast folk festivals: Justin Nordell of the Philadelphia Folk Festival and Eric Schwartz, the virtual producer of the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival.  They will be joined by John Moynihan from the Firehouse in Newburyport Massachusetts, a 200 person theater that converted an outdoor field into a literal drive-in theater presenting plays and concerts last summer and  Daryl Beard, an AV engineer for the Columbia Lakefront concert series who specializes in outdoor events and can walk you through some of the technical finer points in technical presentation for these types of shows.

The topics will include:

  • Basic outdoor AV event setup (for yourself as a performer or for presenters transitioning to outdoor shows.)
  • Current restrictions & risk mitigation plans associated with outdoor events
  • Hybridization of in-person & virtual events
  • Innovative ways to embrace outdoor opportunities

We hope you can join us and bring some of your questions.
