Hip-Hop Is Dead - Live at The New Standard - Daze Between 2021

Event Details

Hip-Hop Is Dead is a joint creation by drummer Rashid Williams and Nate Landwer, the owner of The New Standard.  The concept was born from the desire to showcase the versatility of Jerry Garcia's Grateful Dead catalogue by crossing it with various Hip-Hop tracks in a way that would open the minds of the listeners and viewers alike.  Williams and Landwer have chosen songs that meet with a common thread of rhythm or harmony.  "Rashid is such an amazing artist and friend. It's been an absolute treasure to have him work with me on this project. He helps complete musically what I can hear in my head but he has the talent to actually execute it and expound on it.", says Landwer. Williams has chosen some of the finest players he vibes with to pull off this genre bending experience.
