Joy A. Johnson is the author of  JOY, the KEY to Entrepreneurial Happiness, and a renowned beauty industry expert in the Washington, DC, Metropolitan area. Johnson is a multi-licensed beauty professional, former adjunct professor, international beauty educator, product developer,  and sole proprietor of Nails & Faces of Joy, LLC, the parent company of Joy of Beauty ™, a diabetic-friendly body care line. She was recently awarded the SBA’s 2023 Maryland Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year award and has successfully been certified as a Small, Woman-Owned, Minority and Airport Concession Certified firm. 

Joy has been in the beauty business since 2007 and is a Global educator and Licensed Nail Technician specializing in Diabetic Pedicures and a Licensed Esthetician. She has spoken domestically and internationally, engaging and informing small and large crowds as she lectured professionally for the last 11 years.  Hundreds of beauty professionals gather to listen and glean from her educational seminars. She continues to teach and manage conferences for clients such as Sally’s Beauty Group and Salon Centric and various manufacturers such as Ardell Lashes, Gigi Wax, China Glaze Nail Polish, Refectocil, and many others. Her consulting and teaching have taken her to the EU and throughout North America.

While beauty was the beginning of her entrepreneurial journey, it has certainly not been where she has stayed. She formed a partnership company named Johnson Miller Enterprises, LLC in 2016. This company focuses on IT/Cyber Security, Commercial Photography, Film Making, Real Estate, and Consulting. She has successfully gotten both businesses certified as Minority, Woman-Owned firms.

Joy is a podcaster, caretaker, mother, lover, and multi-passionate entrepreneur who works hard to help others understand you can like different industries that may not “match” and have personal responsibilities and not feel obligated to do all the things. She’s been known to say, “You are the one that sets the standards for what you consider a success. Don’t feel obligated to balance life because it’s meant to be juggled.”
