Mobetta Thursdays curated by Grammy Award-winning Maurice Brown is taking over Brooklyn's newest Music Venue "Now and Then NYC!" Enjoy some new material along with covers and impromptu songs made up on the fly by some of the world's most talented musicians. Expect to hear some Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop, Soul and other "fusionified" joints! This week May 27th, Mobetta Thursdays Presents The Marcus Strickland's Trio.
Saxophonist, composer, and bandleader Marcus Strickland is a charter member of the 21st century jazz vanguard. Similar to the torrent of artists that appeared on the jazz landscape in the early '80s to pull jazz out of the grasp of the Fusion Era, Strickland, his identical twin brother E.J. Strickland(drummer), and artists such as Jeremy Pelt and Robert Glasper breathed new life into jazz early in the new millennium, often erasing the boundaries between it and other musical genres, from hip hop to funk to soul.
DJ Commish will be spinning some serious DJ sets when doors open, in between sets and at the end of the night!
"Now and Then" is Brooklyn's newest INDOOR/OUTDOOR venue with an amazing Sound System, an outdoor patio, delicious food and full bar. Every seat in the house is a perfect seat with a view of the bandstand.
Last shows were packed and left the people wanting more! Limited Advanced tickets available for $25 online and $35 at the door for the evening's 8PM and 10PM shows. Seating is limited so buy them now.
