ViewStub Success Story: Home Depot

Home Depot Teams Up with Brad Paisley to Boost Gift Card Sales

The Home Depot wanted to do something special for its loyal customers during the holidays of 2020. They knew their customers were dealing with cabin fever – no pun intended – after months of isolation at home during a global pandemic.

They wanted to reward customers for their patronage by offering an exclusive virtual concert for those who purchased Home Depot gift cards during the holidays. They partnered with country music superstar Brad Paisley, to perform his hit songs during this intimate private performance. This special concert offered a way to connect with an audience, in the comfort and safety of their own home. The online concert event was a huge promotional success for Home Depot’s holiday push.

ViewStub was delighted to assist with this effort by providing the white labeled streaming platform, along with secure access to the concert through unique single-use access codes.

The world’s largest home improvement retailer

Approximately 500,000 orange-blooded associates and more than 2,200 stores in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

The Home Depot was founded in 1978 by Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank with the vision of one-stop shopping for the do-it-yourselfer. They opened the first two Home Depot stores on June 22, 1979, in Atlanta, Georgia. The first stores, at around 60,000 square feet each, were cavernous warehouses that dwarfed the competition and stocked 25,000 products, much more than the average hardware store at that time.

Today, The Home Depot is the world’s largest home improvement retailer with approximately 500,000 orange-blooded associates and more than 2,200 stores in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The typical store today averages 105,000 square feet of indoor retail space, interconnected with an e-commerce business that offers more than one million products for the DIY customer, professional contractors, and the industry’s largest installation business for the Do-It-For-Me customer.

The Challenge

Home Depot wanted to create a unique experience they could use to boost holiday gift card sales. They knew their customers needed a dose of some of their favorite music after enduring months of isolation at home during the pandemic. They partnered with Brad Paisley to provide a live digital experience, exclusively for customers who bought gift cards during the holidays.

They wanted to ensure exclusivity of the event for their loyal customers. They needed a platform that provided secure access while making it easy for attendees to login and enjoy the concert. They also needed to integrate directly with their registration software.

Branding for the event was also very important. They wanted a fully branded and customized experience from end-to-end hosted on a Home Depot branded website. High quality live streaming with support for multiple camera angles was also a requirement for the online event.
